Kensley’s first Thanksgiving was such a beautiful day! Kensley and I woke up early and went on a walk through our neighborhood. I was feeling a little disappointed that I hadn’t signed us up to participate in our local turkey trot 5k! A few years ago I participated with my good friend and I was totally shocked how many people in my community participated in this thanksgiving tradition. I promised myself next year that Kensley and I would definitely sign up for the race. So instead of the 5k we settled for just the walk. One of my favorite things about where we live are the beautiful trees along the road that goes to our street.
After our walk Kensley and I came back to nap, eat a little snack, and get ready for dinner at Jake’s parents house. In the past before Kensley, Jake and I would try to fit both families into one day, but we decided it’s easier to now just do one family a holiday so we can make the most out of the day instead of rushing around. This holiday was SO much more relaxing this way.
Kensley is wearing the most adorable dress and vest that I found from Old Navy, and of course with the adorable Little Poppy Co. Cedar November bow.
We ate the traditional turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes at our thanksgiving feast. Normally, I try to bring something with me but this year I just completely had a mental blank and didn’t make anything! Not that it was needed. My mother in law never fails to have a spectacular spread of appetizers, dinner, and desserts. I would love to hear what kinds of things you make for thanksgiving, leave a comment below with your favorite recipe!
The holidays always bring back so many cherished memories for me. This time of year is my favorite especially because I get to spend time with my loved ones that I don’t get to see as often. My family was big on traditions growing up and every year we had thanksgiving at my aunts house. We watched movies and played games, it was an all day and night event.
I can’t wait to start making traditions with Jake and Kensley. What are some of your favorite traditions you participate in on Thanksgiving? Please share in the comments!
I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving as much as I did. I’m feeling so very blessed this year and want to thank you for your support! Thanks for reading.
