Blowouts. Mamas, we have all been there… And if you haven’t been there then please share with me what your secret is to preventing them because I have tried it all. Obviously, the clean up is AWFUL, but one of the worst parts is the nasty stains that are left behind. I’m here today to tell you that I have a foolproof, tried and true way to get those baby poo stains out completely!
Never in a million years did I think I would scour the internet one day searching for the answer to figure out how to get stains out of baby clothes. It was so frustrating to not only be dealing with all the other challenges that come along with a new baby, but to also have clothes that I thought were ruined.
It’s actually a random story and coincidence how I came across the answer. I found a recommendation on Pinterest to use the laundry bar Fels-Naptha. Say what??? What is that you may ask?? SO RANDOM. Never heard of it, but then I saw a picture of it and I realized that I had this exact laundry bar in my cupboard downstairs. A few years back my aunt was hosting Christmas with her fiancé and they excitedly told us all they had a surprise present for all of us. Later that night when we were driving home my husband said they were acting so excited he honestly thought they had won the lottery and were gifting us all money! Haha. Turns out they had wrapped this laundry bar up and gave it to us all. Apparently it was a MAGIC stain remover. We all laughed about it and then I didn’t think to ever use it. Mostly because I never had any tough stains to deal with until Kensley was born.
Well, I’m here to say that my aunt was RIGHT. This laundry bar is MAGIC. Brand new stains or set in stains, this bar works. We’ve all forgotten about that dirty onesie in the wet bag or in the car. I’ve used this bar on those stains and it has never failed me. And just in case you don’t believe me, I took some pictures of it in use.
Pictured on the right was a brand new stain and on the left was about a week old set in stain, both courtesy of my baby girl Kensley (LOL!)
All it takes is the Fels-Naptha, some warm water, and your hands to scrub the stains off! I lather the stain directly with the water running and then I lather again and let it soak in the stain for just a minute or two (I’m usually lathering the other pile of onesies while it soaks.)
The new stain immediately came out after rinsing it the first time as you can see picture above. The set in stain I usually lather and soak twice and really stubborn stains don’t fully come out till you wash it in your machine. Even if the stain came out immediately I always wash it in the machine after as well.
This is the final product! Stain completely gone.
So no more throwing out your perfectly good baby clothes! I mean they only get to wear them a few times anyways, but for the mamas planning on having more kids hand me downs are everything!!!
I hope this works for you all! I know those first few weeks of having baby home from the hospital can be exhausting and this can now be one thing less you have to stress about.
Let me know in the comments if you have any other foolproof stain removers for set in baby food stains…that is going to be my next battle once Kensley starts eating.
